Since 2022, they’ve built a reputation for combining timeless style with rigorous authentication, ensuring every piece is genuine inside and out. Their commitment to quality, value, and sustainability resonates with fashion lovers who appreciate heritage design and conscious consumption. At its core, The StilStyle celebrates personal expression through storied accessories that stand the test of time.

The Problem
The StilStyle founder Linnea had built an engaged following of luxury handbag enthusiasts across Instagram and Whatnot, but her manual sales process was becoming a growth bottleneck. Each sale required 15-20 DMs with custom photos, payment links, and tracking updates - taking up to 2 hours per transaction. This friction was causing potential customers to abandon purchases and preventing Linnea from scaling beyond 3-5 sales per month. To capture her share of the growing luxury resale market, she needed to streamline the customer journey from discovery to purchase.
Customer Insights: The StilStyle’s Core Persona
Lydia, The Discerning Remote Shopper (40-55, Upper Middle Class, Mid-Tier City)
Lydia appreciates high-quality luxury goods and sees purchasing pre-owned handbags as both financially smart and environmentally conscious. As a busy professional in a creative industry, she values efficiency and authenticity when shopping online.
Shopping Behavior: Lydia follows luxury resale accounts on Instagram and browses online boutiques, but often hesitates to purchase due to concerns about authenticity and lengthy transaction processes. Living outside major metropolitan areas, she has limited access to physical luxury consignment stores.
Key Challenges:

Hypothesis and Strategy
We hypothesized that trust uncertainty was the primary barrier preventing purchase conversion for luxury resale customers like Lydia.
We chose to address this by developing a strong brand, highlighting the authentication process, and offering post-purchase protections.
We believed in this strategy because:
Luxury buyers prioritize authenticity over selection
Personal branding (Linnea's expertise) was her competitive advantage
Trust compounds - bad experiences damages credibility, great experiences lead to social sharing and personal referrals

Building a successful luxury resale website requires strategic focus. Here's how we prioritized The StilStyle's development:
Authentication storytelling and brand credibility
We showcased Linnea's expertise and verification process to build trust customers need to have in the seller before buying. This meant custom content over quick template solutions.Professional design matching luxury expectations Once trust was established, we created a premium shopping experience through custom branding and design work.
Enhanced checkout and shipping options
Shopify's built-in checkout are best in class, so we simply added shipping insurance protection to build trust in the post-purchase experience.
Complex features like advanced search, international shipping, and automated customer reviews were left for future phases, allowing us to perfect the core trust-building elements that drive conversions.
Solution Design
We built trust into every step of Lydia's shopping journey, addressing her specific concerns at each decision point:
Brand Identity: Created luxurious visual strategy and messaging that positioned Linnea as a trusted expert, not just another reseller. This immediately signals credibility when customers first discover the site.
Authentication Transparency: Developed a dedicated page detailing Linnea's verification process, from sourcing relationships to condition assessments. Customers can see exactly how each bag is authenticated before purchase.
Product Pages: Enhanced standard Shopify templates with detailed condition descriptions, multiple photos from all angles, and direct links to authentication details. Each product tells the story of its verification, reducing customer uncertainty.
Protected Checkout: Integrated trusted payment processors and shipping insurance, giving customers recourse if issues arise post-purchase.
Key Design Principle: Rather than hiding the authentication process, we made it a selling point that differentiates The StilStyle from competitors who treat verification as a behind-the-scenes necessity.
Result: Customers can confidently purchase without needing to ask questions or request additional photos - eliminating the DM bottleneck that was limiting sales.

Execution and Stakeholder Alignment
This was a 10-day project with daily stakeholder check-ins to assign visual direction, integrate external sales channels, and conduct client training. We held design reviews, aligned GTM events, and completed Shopify tutorials prior to Launch to ensure operational continuity and platform confidence.
Results and Learning
Within the first 18 months of post-launch, Linnea’s Shopify store launched her from a five-figure side hustle to a six-figure thriving business! Her conversion rate increased by 200%. The brand is clear, consistent, and has a dedicated following of 26K+ followers on Instagram which she leverages with weekly live sales that drive traffic and conversion to her Shopify store. Linnea has since added a product review app to add social proof to solidify brand trust.
If I were to optimize further, I’d recommend having a more dynamic home page to tease upcoming live drops, VIP access to loyal luxury collectors, and international markets to reach a global audience.
